Wicomico County, through a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, has been awarded over $20 million in funds to assist Wicomico County residents in need of emergency rental and utility assistance. SHORE UP! Inc. is one of three grant subrecipients. As of October 31, 2022, SHORE UP had provided 1279 unique households with $9.3 million in financial assistance payments.

To be eligible for ERAP Assistance, a household must meet all four eligibility criteria:

Rent Status

Tenant obligated to pay rent on a residential dwelling in Wicomico County, Maryland.

Income

Household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income as defined by HUD. (See chart below.)

Financial Hardship

1 or more individuals approved to receive unemployment assistance

OR

Experienced a reduction in household income incurred significant costs, or other financial hardship directly or indirectly, to the COVID19 outbreak

Housing Instability

Demonstrated risk of housing instability, which may include:

• A past due utility or rent notice or eviction notice

• Unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, OR

• Any other evidence of such risk, as determined by DHCD

Income Qualifications

Recipients must be at or below 80% gross income for the number of people in your household.
