Wicomico County, through a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, has been awarded $7,380,680 in funds to assist Wicomico County residents in need of emergency rental and utility assistance. SHORE UP! Inc. is one of three grant subrecipients, receiving $1,075,000 in grant funds. Here’s what you need to know for assistance.
We are now accepting applications for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). To see these instructions in a different language, choose the Select Language button at the bottom of this webpage. Applications are available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
To be eligible for ERAP Assistance, a household must meet all four eligibility criteria:
Rent Status
Income
Financial Hardship
1 or more individuals qualified for unemployment assistance
OR
Experienced a reduction in household income incurred significant costs, or other financial hardship directly or indirectly, to the COVID19 outbreak
Housing Instability
Demonstrated risk of housing instability, which may include:
• A past due utility or rent notice or eviction notice
• Unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, OR
• Any other evidence of such risk, as determined by DHCD
Income Qualifications
Recipients must be at or below 80% gross income for the number of people in your household.

If you are a currently receiving assistance from SHORE UP!’s Head Start/Early Head Start program and the Office of Home Energy Programs, you meet the income qualifications for assistance. Those who receive Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Veterans Affairs assistance, Disability Pension and WIC are also income qualified. These individuals must also meet the other listed criteria.
